Good morning. This is just a reminder that today, Thursday, January 30th, is an early release day. Students will be released at 2:00, and Parent-Teacher conferences will run from 3:00 to 7:00. Thank you!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to inform you that a student at Sanford High School has tested positive for pertussis (whooping cough). Pertussis is a contagious respiratory infection that initially presents with mild cold-like symptoms, including a low-grade fever, runny nose, and mild cough. These symptoms typically appear 7 to 10 days after exposure. Within approximately two weeks, the cough can become more severe, often occurring in fits and sometimes followed by a "whooping" sound.
If your child develops symptoms of pertussis, we encourage you to consult your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent the spread of infection.
The health and well-being of our students remain our top priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our school nurse, Michelle Vannoy at 719-274-5167 or your local health department.
